Hi, I downloaded this over 10yrs ago from iTunes. Its no longer available for purchase but can be downloaded if its in your purchase history. I had previously removed it from my library but recently re-downloaded it. One thing I noticed is that all the albums are simply called the Complete U2. The Complete U2 Itunes Torrent Video U2 released a full 'box set' of all of their releases through iTunes on November 23, 2004. The initial offering was 446 tracks, separated into 67 different 'groupings' – i.e. Album and singles. On November 23, 2004 fans finally got an insightinto what was coming from the iTunes store - a 'Digital Box Set' of U2Material some 446 tracks strong, which could be downloaded with a clickof a mouse (once you paid for them of course). The songs includedstretch U2's entire career from early demo recordings to the newest album,this set does a very good job of showing us pretty much everything U2 hasever done. Also included is a .pdf file which lists the albums andsingles throughout U2's career with cover images from the various releases.The set is called 'The Complete U2' and many fans will argue the titleis misleading. First several songs are just plain missing from theset, most of these covers of other artists work over the years. Butsome of these songs are favorites of the fan community, and their abscensehas been noted. There is an amusing fan created iMix in the US iTunes store called The inComplete U2 (link requires iTunes) which contains tracks not in the box set which can be bought on iTunes itself. Another issue is that 48 tracks are just duplicates of what is alreadyavailable elsewhere in the set, leaving this 446 song set down to only398 unique songs. What has occurred is in an effort to be completesongs like 'Beautiful Day' which never had a separate single mix, are includedwith both the 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' album as well as with the'Beautiful Day' single. It is a little disappointing to realize youjust grabbed 50 songs from the interent you didn't have to to get the completecontents. This is probably due to the fact that at this point you cannot tag a single file to count for multiple releases - hence if someone just wanted to listen to the 'Beautiful Day' singles they may be dissipointed to have the title track and most the live tracks not represented. 

The highlight of the set is the rare material for the U2 fan who haseverything else. Unfortunately that is also why this set is beinga little controversial - those who have everything have to buy it all asecond time to get 10 - 15 new tracks they want because they are not availableoutside of the set. Adding to the frustration is the limited geographythat these sets are available to, as well as frustration when people findthey are unable to install the iTunes software to even see the tracklistingbecause they are on an unsupported operating system (Windows 95, 98 etc.)

Comments: Not a bad selection of the early stuff. We've gotdigital copies of the original single 'Three', 'Another Day', '11 O'ClockTick Tock', 'A Day without Me' and 'I Will Follow' singles. 'Outof Control' live from Boston in 1981, originally released as a b-side to'I Will Follow' is not listed among these tracks as the entire concertis included in this box set. Unfortunately 'A Day Without Me' and'I Will Follow' are not different on the early singles, and thus theirinclusion here is completely unnecessary as they are also inclulded inthe Boy album bundle. Why pay twice for the same song? Theother tracks are all different versions than appear on the albums.
Missing Tracks: The version of 'Stories for Boys' which appeared onthe Just for KicksCompilation.

Comments: No need to include 'Fire' or 'Gloria' here on this set as bothare available on the October album tracks. Unecessary duplicationagain. '11 O'Clock Tick Tock / The Ocean', 'Cry / The Electric Co.'and 'I Will Follow' are all part of the March 1981 concert released infull with this set, so their inclusion here are unnecessary as well. That makes five tracks not really needed with this set as they alreadyappear elsewhere in the set.
Missing Tracks: The (3:14) edit of Fire found on the promotionalsingle is not included and would have made more sense than includingthe album version again. The (3:26) edit of Gloria found on thatpromotionalsingle would have also made more sense than duplicating the album version. Also missing are the two versions of October which were found on the TheyCall it an Accident soundtrack, but it might be wise just to forgetthose exist. Also missing from this set is the live version of 'IWill Follow' recorded at Veronica's Closet and released at a singlein the Netherlands and Germany.

Nor does the Two Hearts (Long Version) (5:57) which appearedon the promo singleshow up. Comments: Why oh why did they feel the need to include the singletracks twice in some cases. If there were space constraints I'd rathersee some of these dropped in favor of some tracks that were left out. Here we get 'The Unforgettable Fire' which is available as part of thealbum. At least 'Pride' and '4th of July' are slightly differentversions.
Missing Tracks: There were three versions of Love Comes Tumblingwhich were released, and although I can't be sure which is available herewithout listening, I'm willing to bet it's not the alternate vocal fromthe Australian pressings. Likewise the different live vocal mix of A Sort of Homecoming from thoseAustralian pressings is not included. Other tracks from this erawhich could have been included but weren't? Wire (Celtic Dub) fromthe NME Poll WinnersPromo, and 'Maggie's Farm (Live)' from the Livein Ireland compilation.

The version of 'WTSHNN' is different from the albumversion but is not the original singleversion with Edge on backing vocals, but rather is the edit of thealbum track which was done for the Best of 1980 - 1990 album.
Missing Tracks: The actual Single Version of 'Where the StreetsHave No Name' would have been a nice inclusion. As would Bono's originalsolo version of 'Silver and Gold' recorded for the SunCity album. The Edge's solo album CaptiveSoundtrack is not represented as well.

Comments: Here in my opinion is where the 'Digital Box Set' reallystarts to hurt. It was disappointing to see that various 'cover'songs are left out of this set like 'Dancing Barefoot', 'Everlasting Love'and 'Unchained Melody'. The lack of those songs in this set reallymake this less than a complete capture of their work. It's been mentionedthat these songs have likely not made the cut due to the liscensing agreementsthat would be required to present another artist's work on iTunes. This will again blacken this set when the covers during the 'Achtung Baby'singles don't make it. And like before, do we really need the Singleversion of 'Desire'? The only thing different from the album versionis Adam's comment at the start is missing. 'All I Want is You' isalso the same as the album version and is unecessarily duplicated twicein this set.
Missing Tracks: 'Desire (9:23 Hollywood Remix)' from variouspromos,the alternate versions of 'When Love Comes to Town (Live from theKingdom Mix)' and 'God Part II (Hard Metal Dance Mix) from the promos. Both the long and the short edits of 'Dancing Barefoot' and 'EverlastingLove' and 'Unchained Melody' originally from the AllI Want is You Single. Other songs from this era that could havebeen included? 'Pride' was released on the RainbowWarriors compilation and it was a slightly different edit of the liveperformance from Rattle and Hum. If you are wondering about 'JesusChrist' or 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' they are included belowin the 'Rare Tracks' section and do appear on this 'Digital Box Set'.

Comments: More duplication between singles tracks and album tracksas you get 'The Fly', 'Mysterious Ways' and 'One' being the same on both. At least 'Even Better than the Real Thing' and 'Who's Gonna Ride Your WildHorses' are different. A lot of missed opportunities here with thisone too. All of the cover versions are missing just like with theRattle and Hum Singles section above and it really hurts the set. Also some very rare promo mixes were missed which would have been niceto have.

Comments: Finally something that U2 fans are going to be droolingover - a collection of rare songs some of which have never appeared inany form before. 'Levitate', 'Love You Like Mad', 'Smile', 'FlowerChild', 'Beautiful Ghost', 'Xanax and Wine', 'Native Son' and alternateversions of 'All Because of You', 'Yahweh' and 'Sometimes You Can't Makeit On Your Own' are all tracks which have never appeared before which gettheir first release through iTunes. They are also exclusive to the'Digital Box Set' and cannot be purchased separately as you can with manyof the tunes. To me this is a bit of a slap in the face of the longtime fan who would have pretty much everything else in this set. Spend your money, buy the entire set to get 10 songs you don't have already. $15 a song? I don't think so. The other 'rarities' are somewhatlaughable as most of them have had wide release and are still in print. 'Jesus Christ', 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' and 'Night and Day(Twilight Remix)' have all appeared on widely released compilations. 'Stateless' was taken from the MillionDollar Hotel Soundtrack which most fans would have. The shortenedform of 'Bass Trap', 'Salome' and 'Numb' were released on the double discversions of the Best Ofs which are also still widely available. On November 23, 2004 fans finally got an insightinto what was coming from the iTunes store - a 'Digital Box Set' of U2Material some 446 tracks strong, which could be downloaded with a clickof a mouse (once you paid for them of course). The songs includedstretch U2's entire career from early demo recordings to the newest album,this set does a very good job of showing us pretty much everything U2 hasever done. Also included is a .pdf file which lists the albums andsingles throughout U2's career with cover images from the various releases.The set is called 'The Complete U2' and many fans will argue the titleis misleading. First several songs are just plain missing from theset, most of these covers of other artists work over the years. Butsome of these songs are favorites of the fan community, and their abscensehas been noted. There is an amusing fan created iMix in the US iTunes store called The inComplete U2 (link requires iTunes) which contains tracks not in the box set which can be bought on iTunes itself. Another issue is that 48 tracks are just duplicates of what is alreadyavailable elsewhere in the set, leaving this 446 song set down to only398 unique songs. What has occurred is in an effort to be completesongs like 'Beautiful Day' which never had a separate single mix, are includedwith both the 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' album as well as with the'Beautiful Day' single. It is a little disappointing to realize youjust grabbed 50 songs from the interent you didn't have to to get the completecontents. This is probably due to the fact that at this point you cannot tag a single file to count for multiple releases - hence if someone just wanted to listen to the 'Beautiful Day' singles they may be dissipointed to have the title track and most the live tracks not represented. 
The highlight of the set is the rare material for the U2 fan who haseverything else. Unfortunately that is also why this set is beinga little controversial - those who have everything have to buy it all asecond time to get 10 - 15 new tracks they want because they are not availableoutside of the set. Adding to the frustration is the limited geographythat these sets are available to, as well as frustration when people findthey are unable to install the iTunes software to even see the tracklistingbecause they are on an unsupported operating system (Windows 95, 98 etc.)

Comments: Not a bad selection of the early stuff. We've gotdigital copies of the original single 'Three', 'Another Day', '11 O'ClockTick Tock', 'A Day without Me' and 'I Will Follow' singles. 'Outof Control' live from Boston in 1981, originally released as a b-side to'I Will Follow' is not listed among these tracks as the entire concertis included in this box set. Unfortunately 'A Day Without Me' and'I Will Follow' are not different on the early singles, and thus theirinclusion here is completely unnecessary as they are also inclulded inthe Boy album bundle. Why pay twice for the same song? Theother tracks are all different versions than appear on the albums.

Comments: Here in my opinion is where the 'Digital Box Set' reallystarts to hurt. It was disappointing to see that various 'cover'songs are left out of this set like 'Dancing Barefoot', 'Everlasting Love'and 'Unchained Melody'. The lack of those songs in this set reallymake this less than a complete capture of their work. It's been mentionedthat these songs have likely not made the cut due to the liscensing agreementsthat would be required to present another artist's work on iTunes. This will again blacken this set when the covers during the 'Achtung Baby'singles don't make it. And like before, do we really need the Singleversion of 'Desire'? The only thing different from the album versionis Adam's comment at the start is missing. 'All I Want is You' isalso the same as the album version and is unecessarily duplicated twicein this set.
Missing Tracks: 'Desire (9:23 Hollywood Remix)' from variouspromos,the alternate versions of 'When Love Comes to Town (Live from theKingdom Mix)' and 'God Part II (Hard Metal Dance Mix) from the promos. Both the long and the short edits of 'Dancing Barefoot' and 'EverlastingLove' and 'Unchained Melody' originally from the AllI Want is You Single. Other songs from this era that could havebeen included? 'Pride' was released on the RainbowWarriors compilation and it was a slightly different edit of the liveperformance from Rattle and Hum. 'Levitate', 'Love You Like Mad', 'Smile', 'FlowerChild', 'Beautiful Ghost', 'Xanax and Wine', 'Native Son' and alternateversions of 'All Because of You', 'Yahweh' and 'Sometimes You Can't Makeit On Your Own' are all tracks which have never appeared before which gettheir first release through iTunes. They are also exclusive to the'Digital Box Set' and cannot be purchased separately as you can with manyof the tunes. To me this is a bit of a slap in the face of the longtime fan who would have pretty much everything else in this set. Spend your money, buy the entire set to get 10 songs you don't have already. $15 a song? I don't think so. The other 'rarities' are somewhatlaughable as most of them have had wide release and are still in print. 'Jesus Christ', 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' and 'Night and Day(Twilight Remix)' have all appeared on widely released compilations. 'Stateless' was taken from the MillionDollar Hotel Soundtrack which most fans would have. The shortenedform of 'Bass Trap', 'Salome' and 'Numb' were released on the double discversions of the Best Ofs which are also still widely available. The'Numb (Radio Edit)' track is the sole track that is difficult to find,with promo CDs contianing this track going for big prices on eBay.LIVE FROM BOSTON, MARCH 6, 1981

Background Information'The Complete U2' was a first for the world of digital music. U2 released a full 'box set' of all of their releases through iTunes on November 23, 2004. The initial offering was 446 tracks, separated into 67 different 'groupings' – i.e. album and singles. Each item was called 'The Complete U2 – xxx' where xxx was the name of the individual album or single title. The digital box set contained all of the albums up to and including 'How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb' which had been released the same day in North America. The collection also contained a number of new items, not previously released including 'Unreleased & Rare', 'Live in Boston 1981', 'U2 Love: Live from the Point Depot' and a digital EP of 'Early Demos'. The set also contained a 48 page PDF file which detailed the tracks included, artwork from the releases, liner notes on each previously released album by Bill Flanagan, and liner notes written by The Edge for the new sets listed above. These new tracks and indeed, several other portions of the set could only be bought when buying the entire set, except in Canada where the iTunes store initially allowed users to buy all the tracks individually before finding the mistake and making them 'album only'.
The same day, the U2 iPod was released. Included within the iPod box is the image used above for the cover artwork for this set. Artwork for this set was done by Four5One Creative group in Dublin, who have provided artwork for U2's albums throughout their 25 year career. They designed the PDF file that came with the set, they provided the artwork to Apple for the singles in conjunction with U2Wanderer.org. And they designed this artwork included in the iPod.
The iPod release also came with a coupon to save $50 from the purchase price of this digital set. The set was priced at $149 in the USA store when the set launched. The tracks were initially released in m4a file format, at a bitrate of 128kbps. When iTunes Plus was launched these tracks were made available to upgrade to 256kbps, even though the set could no longer be purchased. When the video capable iPod was introduced the coupon for $50 was removed from the set and instead the box included a code for a 33 minute video called 'Love U2' which was 33:45 in length and included interview clips and live footage.
Not all of the 446 tracks are unique. In fact many are repeated throughout the collection. 'One' for example is found on 'Achtung Baby', the 'One' single and 'The Best of 1990 – 2000'. The set was not fully complete either, and some tracks were left out of the collection, some which were already on iTunes in other forms.
There were a number of errors in the set: 
'Stories for Boys' is not the version from 'Three' but rather the version from the compilation 'Just for Kicks'. This was not fixed in the iTunes Plus release, and is present in international versions.
The first drum beat on 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' from the 'War' and 'The Best of 1990 – 2000' folder was cut off in the USA release – Apple claimed that was as the record label intended.
'Corpse (These Chains are Way Too Long)', 'New York (Live from Farmclub.com)' were both faulty, the first would skip or stop when played on an iPod, the second would crash iTunes. Both were fixed early on.
'Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses (Temple Bar Remix)' was actually 'Paint it Black' when downloaded. This was fixed within the first month.
'A Sort of Homecoming (Live from Wembley)' on 'Wide Awake in America' was only 0:12 in length. This was fixed within the first month.
'Discotheque' on 'Pop' was the 5:11 single version not the 5:19 album version, this was fixed on international releases.
'Lemon (The Perfecto Mix)' on 'Melon' and the 'Lemon' single was the live version from 'Hasta La Vista Baby' and not the remixed version. This was fixed within the first month.
'Where the Streets Have No Name' in the single of that name was the 4:38 edit from 'The Best of 1990 – 2000' and not the original single mix. This was never fixed.
The tracks 'Lemon (Momo's Reprise)' and 'Lemon (Momo's Beats)' were actually the same track and were actually 'Lemon (Momo's Reprise)'. This was never fixed.
'Even Better Than the Real Thing' isn't the album version on 'Achtung Baby' it's actually the single version. This was never fixed.
'Bad' on 'The Best of 1980 – 1990' is not the edit found on that actual release, but is the full version from 'The Unforgettable Fire' album. This was never fixed.
'When Love Comes to Town' is not the edit found on 'The Best of 1980 – 1990' in that directory, but is rather the version found on 'Rattle and Hum'. This was never fixed.
'Mysterious Ways' is also not the edit found on 'The Best of 1980 – 1990' in that directory, but is rather the version found on 'Achtung Baby'. This was never fixed.
In the 256kbps set that was released in 2009 as part of iTunes Plus a number of additional errors cropped up: 
The version of 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' in the USA release continues to have the initial drum beat cut out, this was not fixed in the US, but was elsewhere.
On the 256kbps set 'Electrical Storm (William Orbit Radio Edit)' was actually the 'Band Version' which was included elsewhere in the set. This mistake was present on all international copies and was never fixed.
On the USA release several tracks were mislabeled, 'Last Night on Earth (First Night in Hell)' was actually 'Pop Muzik (PopMart Mix)' and 'Numb (The Soul Assassins Mix)' was one of the 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' remixes. This was fixed in international versions as they became available, and those countries actually received 'Last Night on Earth' and 'Numb'
On the 256kbps set in the US 'All I Want is You (Album Version)' in the 'All I Want is You' folder is actually 'Unchained Melody'. In the 128kbps set it had been correct.
'Night and Day (Steel String Remix)' in the 256kbps set was actually 'Satellite of Love' in the USA.
As of Dec. 20, 2007 the set was removed from the iTunes stores worldwide, and is no longer available for purchase. The set was made available in iTunes Plus at 256kbps on May 23, 2009, even though you could no longer purchase the tracks, you could upgrade them for a fee.
